WEATHER CONDITIONS IN APRIL

Di’i Kiel-on, Director of Mcteoi‘ologiey/ .Services, says the principal characteristics of the 'weather in April were the mild aiid ,humid conditions and the absence of winch The greater part of the country had more than the average rainfall, but southern Waivarnpa is still very dry, and prospects for winter feed there ai’p very poor. There' was some shortage also about Taihape, otherwise conditions in the North Island were remarkably guod. was abundant, particularly in northern Taranaki Auckland, and (Hawke’s Bay. Milk yields were being well maintained for the time of veal', and stock was in good condition.
In. the eland there .had nevei been a real recovery in some of the districts, particularly parts of Canterbury, from the summer dry spell. Pests had been rather abundant and growth of pasture rather weak and with a lack of nouri-hiug properties. Nevertheless, in the greater part of the Island there had beer good growth during .April, and conditions were satisfactory. Mushrooms everywhere had been unusuallv plentiful.'
