(By Telegraph—Per Press Association.)

DUNEDIN, May 10

An emphatic denial is given to the allegation made by the Hon, W. Duwnie Stewart House of Representatives in .the -early hours of this morning, that a boycott, similar to Thames, was taking place in Dunedin. This denial was made by the ■secretary of 'the Dunedin Combined Committee of State Organisations which arranged the circulation of a petition. He i.s supported by the -statement of 'Mr Cookson, secretary of the fitago (Employers’ Association, who said ‘’There is no evidence, whatever, of any boycott in Dunedin.” The .secretary of the Public .Service Committee -stated that it was unanimously decided at the March meeting that nothing in the nature ol a boycott would be entertained.

The president of the branch of the Public Service Association, covering all departments save the P. and T and 'Railways, said that Hie instructions to canvassers wore explicit that all signatures must be voluntary, and inquiri** about the town elected little that "as definite. One or two employers heard a rumour of a boycott, but it- had nobeen anything ' definite. Only <>»e retailer stated that lie knew definitely that & boycott of his business has been suggested.
