WHO WILL BE PREMIER? (Received this day at 9.25 a.m‘, PARTS, May 9
The Tardieu Cabinet is resigning tomorrow, and M. Painleve lias agreed to stand for the Presidency. The latest returns show's that Tardieu’s supporters total 259, and Heriot’s 351. It is indicated that M. Horriot will he premier with a, working majority of 150 in the chamber, though, on paper, he is miicli in the same line in international politics as M.. Tardieu.
Tt is believed that Herriot’s regime will stand for a more conciliatory and international spirit, and a mere liberal policy at home, but the opposition press is already predicting a repetition of the ]924 ruinous Leftist finance, and it is still uncertain whether an electoral success will defeat Le Brim’s (flection for presidency.
