lu a bout for the middleweight championship u;nd Lord Beauchamp belt, Fred Hannaberry, 11.3, retained' the title on a foul in the tenth round against, Bob Thornton, 1b.2. The contest was not inspiring, Thornton holding his own very well in spasmodic clashes. It will he recalled that Hannaberry had hitherto won the championship from Ambrose Palmer in tho same manner.
The crowd to-night was not at all satisfied that he was fouled, and indulged iii vigorous hooting. The State lightweight championsmp was also decided, “Bluey” Jones outpointing Billy Kelso fn a ten -rounds contest.
