NEW YORK, May 8

A fire, originating in a boiler room, razed the two. million dollar Cunard Line pier at Hudson River. All available land and marine fire equipment Was utilised throughout the day. ft was indicated that the smouldering would continue till to-morrow, and render the pier a complete loss. At 6.1“ this afternoon, a two Hundred fo"t section dropped into the river. All the nearby steamers were towed to safety. One civilian helper was killed. Scores of firemen were treated for injuries. At lleast 250 firemen were overcome bv the acrid smoke. They were revived and returned to fight the flames.
