AIR MAIL STAMPS
' SERIES T 0 BH MADE, , CALL MADE FOR DESIGNS. WKUJNaTOS, May 3. Designs for a new issue of air-mni. stamps have been called by the Post and Telegraph Department. The series is to consist of not more than three d:s tinct design)-, but the denominations ol the stamps, wtodh have no: yet been decided upon, will not necessarily br confined to this number. ■An aeroplane of a type used in New Zealand must be prominently depictec in each design; but other features, preferably of New Zealand landscape, may be included. The words, “New Zealand” and “Air Mail,” in 'Roman characters, mist 'be shown, The dr norninatioip may be included in words in Arabic figures, or both, the ar: rssuming the denomination for tl purpose. The stamps will be rectangular 18 mm. by 21, 22 by 25, or 22 by 3 mm., and each design is to be drawr for rectu s printing in one coiour. Th drawings may be actual stamp size oi enlarged, but if the, design is enlarged a photographic reproduction in stamp size must accompany the drawing. An award of £25 "’ill be paid f°' each design adopted. All designs submitted, whether originals or copies, wil become the property of the PostmatteGeneral, who reserves the right tc utilise any of them at any time sub-e quent to the issue of the n p w series • but if any design is used within fire years of the issue of the .new series, £ls « •'I be paid to the designer. The deigns must reach '.lie 'Secretary, General Post Office, Wellirgton Py May 81, but some cons’detable time must elapse between t-ho acceptance of the designs and the issue of the ne" stamps and it is not anticipated that the new stamps will be on i&sue this ’ nil'.
