FIRST BIRTHDAY

INSTITUTE AT KOITERANGI. The Koiterangi Women’s Institute celebrated their first birthday last week with a party in the Koiterangi Hall, which had been prettily decorated for tho occasion with autumn shaded streamers. There were about 300 people present, and diluting and games were the order cf the evening. The music, which was supplied by Messrs E. Cook (piano) and J. Ackers (violin), was greatly enjoyed. Extras were played by Mrs Morris and Miss Lynn, the latter also contributing a

vocal solo. A dramatic sketch “Under a Misapprehension” was presented by members, those taking part being: Mes- • lames W. Jones, Bcddington, H. Pimmick, McDonald, S. Havili, and .U isse.TTda Godfrey and Ysobel Ditely. A waltzing competition was entered for by twelve couples, the winners being Miss M. Smith and Mr G. -Shannon.

Cards were also played- and the children were not forgotten, there being several juvenile dances. After supper had been served, the large birthday cake, made by Mrs W. Jones, was cut by the retiring president, Mrs S, Havili, assisted by Mrs M, Harcourt, the newly elected president. Mr W.. Jamieson congratulated the Institute on the pleasant evening and called for three cheers for Mrs Havili and also one for Mrs Harcourt, Mr W. Jamieson was an efficient M.C,
