CANBERRA, April 29

The Prime Minister informed the House of Representatives that the .State taxes paid to the Commonwealth under the Garnishee Act by New South Wales citizens, already amounted to £195,147. Other attached revenue amounted to £7311, but the Lang Government still owed two millions.

Federal Taxation Commissioners annual report discloses income tax collected on behalf of the Commonwealth throughout Australia in 1930-31 totalled £13,604,376. The total income tax outstanding is £4,933,376, half of which is due by New South Wales taxpayers.

Land tax collections for the year were £2,758,598. Sales tax receipts aggregated £3,465.028 which is H millions below the estimate.

AMENDING ACT

TO IMMIGRATION LAW

Extended powers to control immigration and deportation of undesirables is embodied fn a Bill to amend the Lnimn gration Act which was read a first time in the .Senate.
