CHILD’S DEATH

CAUSES BURNS
CARTERTON, April 27,
The death took place at the Mn.stevton Hospital of Joan Moreen, the youngest daughter of Air and Airs A. Bradqury, of Daleliejd, near Carterton, as tho result of extensive, burns about the front of the body, and severe shock. The child, who was four years and eight months of age, was left in hod with her sister Grace, aged five years and nine months, on Friday morning, while her parents were engaged infikinc. 'From an adjoining room Joan obtained some matches, and, it is assumed. ignited one. which dropped on her llannelette nightdress, setting it alight.
An older sister, with some presence of mind, got some water and extinguished t,ln> flame-. The party-burnt clothing was removed, and the eh'ld’s mother, mi rot urning to the house, found her sitting upon tho bed - blanket and a jacket around her. The Imi-iit clothing was on the llnor ill the kitchen.
