KOK ATAHI CONCERT

A DISTINCT SUCCESS. On the night of AYednesday, April 27th., a huge assembly-foregathered at tho Rubric Hull, Ivokatahi, and iol* got for a few brief hours that tiierO ever was such, a tiling as a decline itt the price of butter-fat or a world Depression, And no wonder. For they were curried out of themselves—out, of the prosaic: affairs of farm and timber into the realm of fancy, into the realm of music, song, play, poetry and graceful action. This by a selection of talent that cam© from Rokatafll itself, from Hokitika and Araliura, and as far away as Grey mouth. Under the dirotion of Mr T. O’Neil the artists held the interest of the packed audience for three hours and were always greeted by rounds of applause and repeated demands foi encores. The excellence of the concert arrangements, the supper that followed and ; tho dance that ended, well into the night stands to the credit of the Indies’ cumnittee led hy their able secretary, Airs AY. Graham. Towards the close of the programme Father Finerty addressed the gathering and expressed Ids appreciation of the generosity of the performers and the support of a large and representative audience.

Proceedings began with an orchestral selection by Misses E. and V. and Air P Crougli. These players also provided the dance numbers. ScJ-.gs were rendered by All's A. Perry, Airs J. AJacfarlaue, Misses E. Dale, M. Jones, A. Lynn, It. Morgan, J. Warren, Al. Hanrahan, also- Messrs A. Perry, S. Brooks and T. Stopfortlr. Vocal duet by Alisses B. 'Ward and Al. Jones and piano duet by Alisses A], and P. Carroll: violin selection, A!,- Percv Crough; piano solos, Alisses G. Jacobs and P. Carroll; playette, Alisses E., E., and L. Dale and K. Kennedv; monlogue.
