All’s Sarojici jfhidu, the Acting-Presi-dent of the National Congress of India, was arrested on a train when she was 1 leaving Boniba'y for Delhi, where she intended to' attend the Congress meeting, in defiance, of the Government order that she'should not leave Bombay. Other delegates have been arrested for similar defiance. Airs Naidn has been sentenced to one year’s simple imprisonment. Over fifty of the Congressmen have arrived at Delhi to attend the banned meeting. Following on the arrest o!" Congress leaders, there is tense excitement at Deihi. The authorities are succeeding in rounding up most of the Provincial Delegates, but a few have managed to meet secretly. They carried resolutions pledging loyalty to Gandhi. They resolved to 'continue the civil disobedience till India has achieved her freedom.
THIRTY PRISONERS ESCAPE. AFTER OVERPOWERING ESCORT. CALCUTTA, April 24. Thirty political prisoners were being conveyed by train from Aligarh to Lahore, when, at midnight, they ovr--powered their escort- of ten constables. They seized the rifles of the escort and shot two constables, one of them fatally. Then thep stopped the train and os-aped into the jungle.
