DUNEDIN, April 19. The University Council at a meeting to-day adopted a report by the Professorial Board, the effect of which will be 'the virtual abolition of the Capping Carnival, as it has 'been constituted for many years. The graduation ceremony will be held in the first term, and the capping entertainment, which is ail that survives of the carnival, must be held in the second term, and is limited Ito four nights. The Capping Ball, as at present constituted, is abolished, but it may be resurrected under the control of 'the Council. No procession or appearance on the street in fancy dress will be allowed.
