Alassie, under cross examination at the murder trial, revealed that he had been told by others tha't j after the killing, he ‘‘stood like a bump on a log, unable j:o .speak.’’ He said Jones told" Rim he "acted like a damned fool.” These and other details revealed the competion of the story of the killing being under a mental lapse while attempting to extract a confession of rape. The defence in the case is now almost complete, except for possibly alienists' testimony.
