AUCKLAND, April 19. 1 The second stage of the legal proceedings regarding the ownership of tic racehorse Croupier, seized at Kiecarton. last November, began at the Supreme Court before Mr Justice Herdmnn day.Jblin Joseph Corry of Blenheim, sued John and Jamep Paterson, merchants of Auckland, asking foe a declaration of ownership, dissolution of partn-i----ship and taking of accounts. He also asked that a receiver be appointed, and claimed £100(1 for wrongful removal and detention of the horse.

The defence is a denial of a partnership, defendants averting that tbe\ had always been the rightful ownecs or tlie horse. They denied they wrongfully seized it and-eta lined half the prize money received by Corrv from Aiy™st 1 to November 14. 1931. They maintained for possession of the horse, which was given to Corry in accordance with his promise to look after the horse for them. They asked the Court to declare them the owners of the horse.

Up to August 31st 1931, Croupier won five races for which plaintiff was paid approximately £413. less deductions. From August 1. to November 14, 1931, lie won approximately £1225. The hearing is proceeding.
