The erection of the United Sawmilling Company’s new mill, replacing that destroyed a few months ago by fire, is proceeding satisfactorily, and it is expected that a. few weeks will see it completed. At the , Reef ton Magistrate’s Court, on Thursday, Mr W. Meldrum, S.M., presiding, i?\ Haa-ewood sued S. T. Provis for £lO, the value of two sows destroyed. Defendant stated that the pigs had been a -nuisance to him and had got into a paddock of oats. Hi,s property was- properly fenced with barbed wire. He had spoken to plaintiff about the trespass of the. pigs, and finally shot them, advising the police of ids having done so, and requesting plaintiff to remove t-nwu. Plaintiff (claimed that the dividing fence was not in good order and called wltne«£€# who stated they did not consider it stockproof. The §ow ß were part of a lot he had bought at lkamatua They would bring at least £-5 to £6 .in tlie market. The Magistrate gave judgment for £5 each for tne pigs, with Court costs.
