LORD BLEDISLOE

TRIBUTE TO PRESBYTERIANS

CHURCH CO-OPERATION URGED

fßy Telegraph —Per Press A ssociation)

WELLINGTON, April 17

The foundation stone of a new Presbyterian Church at Seatoun was laid by the Governor-General (Lord Bledisloe) on Saturday afternoon. His Excellency was accompanied by Lady Bledisloe.

In the course of his address, His Excellency stated: ‘‘Let me take this opportunity of expressing our admiration of the activities of the Presbyterian Church throughout the- Dominion, and of wishing God speed to their numerous and beneficient enterprises. I have always felt at home among Presbyterians, for my dear Scotch mother was one, and I owe her more than 1 shall ever be able to repay; but especially is it the case here, for nowhere—not even in Scotland or Canada—is the flame of Presbyterian spiritual zeal burning more brightly than it does in this country, or in its torchbearers who are working, thank God. more, harmoniously with those other Christian communities. Such co-oper-ation is, I am convinced, absolutely vital under modern conditions to the future immeasurable power for the good of Christianity throughout the world. ’
