MAN DROWNED
WHEN BOAT OVERTURNS. THREE OTHER MEN RESCUED. /ill Telegraph —Per Press Association) AUCKLAND. April 18. A member of the crew of the cable ship, Recorder, J. lyrrel, was (V'owlied when the ship’s whaleboat overturned ill the surf' off Muriwai Reach yesterday morning Three others were rescued. The boat "' ils manoeuvring !'<:■" a position to lire ii, rocket in connection with . the attempt to carry a line from the beach to the ship. Afterwards, an aeroplane from Auckland was used in tin effort to get the line to the ship, and this also was unsuccessful, hut further efforts will he made to-day.
