Serious damage was done to the Church of the Epiphany. Karangahnpo Road, by a lire which broke out tilts evening just about the time of the eiommencemeuit of the disturbances which occurred in the shopping area nearby. The fire apparently broke out in the choir vestry beneath the sanctuary, and quickly spread. The flame,s travelled along the vaulted roof a.nd were breaking out through the northern wall overlooking Karangahnpo Road when the fire engines arrived.
