Approval of the nominations from various sports bodies for Now Zealand representation at tile Olympic games at Los Ancles next -July was given at a meeting of the Council of the Now Zealand Olympic and Rritish (lames Assoeiat.on. .Mr 11. Amos presided, and the official representation at the meeting included the Rubgy Union, Hexing Association, Howling Association, Swimming Association, Football Association, and Amateur Rowing Association. It was decided that the New Zea'and team should leave Wellington on • lone 1-1 tli and depart from San Kran- . isco for Wellington on August 31. NO.M [NATIONS. The following nominations were before the meeting:— Rowing—G. C. Cooke (Wellington, Cox (Canterbury), L. •lack-son '.Marlborough), d. McDonald (Marlhoroitgh), V. Olsson. (Auckland), IJ. Sandos (.Marlborough), C. E. Saunders (Marlborough), ('. A. Stiles (Canterbury), J. Solomon (Otago), I'. H . Thomson (Canterbury). S. A. Flock (New Plymouth), 2CO and -100 metres A. ,j, Elliot' (Auckland), .11)0 and '20./ metres. Miss T. Kciicli (Wellington), 100 metres. Hexing— Pert Lowe (Dunedin), middle-weight ; Hob Purdie (Auckland) feather-weight: Harold Thomas (W eliiglo..). iightweight. A coaeli and coxswain have yet to be named for the crew. .No nominations were received from the Swimming Association. The Athletic Association advised vhnt. Evans (MM) metres) and Savidan (10,000 metres), together with Grose (vyciiist), were under considertion lor addition to the nominations. These will be tried out before the end of this month. ROWING CREW. it was explained on behalf of the Amateur Rowing Association that much of the criticism which had been levelled against the rowing nominations was unju-tiiied. The selectors bad carefully considered the claims d ,I'vcuy prominent oarsman and were sutMied that the crew selected would uphold the reputation of New Zealand •owing. Several well-known rowers bud been unable to obtain leave, livery consult rat ion had been given to the weight of the crew and to bailin', skill and strength. .Members of ; j 11 . eight, would also he able to compete m the fours, pairs, and double sculls. Alter the Council bad discussed the metier from all angles anu rc.cc ved replies to t|no-lions, a motion was carried unanimously approving that those nominated should comprise the New Zealand team for the Olympiad. A provision was added that governing bodies ether than the Rowing Association should contribute at loa-t CoO oer man. and the rowing body to contribute at least £2o per man, together with a new boat and sculls. A sub-committee consisting of H. Amos, IT. McCormick, IT. Raton, and A. C. Kitto was appointed. The adjourned bu-iness will bp considered at another meeting next Monday. The selection of the team manager will he announced shortly.
