LONDON, April 11. Tntters.nll’p Committee settled one of the strangest bets made in Britain, when a- bookmaker offered a wager of ■Co a week for life to half a crown against a horse named Gold Meter. The hacker, a man aged thirty-one, took the bet. The. horse unexpectedly won. The resultant, annuity necessitated a layout of fifty thousand. Tattersal I's Club, however, ordered the bookmaker to pay to sterling lor only opo vpht.
