Admitted to probation by Justices of the Peace on a charge of disorderly behaviour when they had no power to do “so, Robert Franklin Dobson, aged nineteen years, was this morning convicted and lined £2 and costa, in default fourteen day’s imprisonment, by Air E. D. Alosley, S..M. Prior to the sitting of Hie Alagistrate s -■■( ourt, ALvsrs J. B. Bortliwiek and F. H. Christian. J.P.Vi who had dealt with the ease originally, heard aim granted an application lor a re-hearing. Counsel in the .Magistrate’s ('ourt stated that a good deal ol publicity had been given to the ease through till' ,1 list ices’ error. "It is, very fortunale that such publicity wae given,” said the .Magistrate. “If the Court had the power, the sentence of the Justices would stand.”
