Mr Hiatt Baker, of Almondsbury, near Bristol, England, who is a member of the Council of Bristol University, and whose sou Miclmet Baker, lost his life at the Masonic Hotel, Napier, during the earthquake, lias generously offered through the Governor-Genera), , Lord Bledisloe, who was .Ormerly chairman of the Agricultural Committee of the University as a. memorial to his son, a scholarship in perpetuity of £2OOO to be held at Bristol University by post-graduate students from New Zealand. The offer is being referred by the Minister of Education, the Hon. R. Masters, to the Senate of the New Zealand University for consideration.
