Two thousand citizens, including many war veterans huff enrolled for police duty in tile ease of further disturbances, but their services were not required. The Premier, Sir R. Squires is still in office, though there i.s uncertainty in regard to the strength of the Government. He is (.11 record as having absolutely no intention whatever of resi truing. Interest is centred aroum.l the announcement by the Governor, Sir J. Miiddleton, that he would appoint a Royal Commission to investigate the disorders. It is expected that the Assembly will resume its session within a few days.
