‘‘'SWEETHEARTS ON PARADE.”
For hilarious screen comedy don’t fail to see “Sweethearts on Parade,” the Columbia production which .opens at the Princess Theatre to-night. In addition it shows a decided indication to pay more attention to story and characterisation than has been evident in most pictures of late. The plot is rather light, hut the characers of the story will appear as father likeable folks in whom you get quite interested, Alice White, popular star, heacts what is really an all-star aggregation with her portrayal of a small town girl who comes to the big city to marry a, millionaire. Marie Provost scores with her wise and witty observations on life in general and millionaires in particular. Lloyd Hughes has one of the best roles ever assigned to him as “Bill,” the scrappy leatherneck. Ray Cooke, as his sailor friend, is a recent screen find who will bear watching, judging from his perfoiniance in this film. I have seldom 'laughed as heartily at any film as I did at the antics of the fun-loving gob and' leatherneck who come ashore to make whoopee in “Sweethearts on Parade.” Lloyd Hughes and Ray Cook demonstrate that they can give any of the wellknown male screen teams close competition. They work together like a charm. The result is a triumph m screen comedy. Marshall -eilan directed _ with all the flair for fast continuous action “for which he is noted. “Sweethearts on Parade” is excellent film fare, and one cf the few recent “talkies” that the youngsters will thoroughly enjoy.
