OBITUARY

MR ROBERT MUIR KING.

We regret to record the death of Mr Robert Muir King, which took place at Auckland yesterday. The deceased was a native of Dunedin, and came to Hokitika about 60 years ago, where he grew up. He was secretary of the Harbour Board for years, and later joined the staff of the Lands and Survey Department, remaining here till 1918, when lie was transferred to Westport. He left the service some years later and took up land at Auckland where he has since resided. When in Hokitika the deceased was a member of the Ist Westland Rifles and a prominent member of the Town Band over a long period of years. Deceased had been in poor health for some time suffering from heart trouble. He leaves a widow* ami family of four sons and two daughter (both married). Air .Tames King, of Hokitika is a brother, and Miss Jane King of Wellington is a sister.

MR OSWALD R. E. BORTON.

The death of the Mr Oswald R. E. Borton took place somewhat unexpectedly last evening about (i o’clock, following a heart sci'ure. Deceased following an affliction of liis legs, had both lower limbs amputated above the knee some three years ago. He was a native of Dunedin, and 65 years ol age. Ho lias been a well-known resident for about thirty years, being on the staff ol' Messrs Mark Sprut and Co., for many years. Deceased leaves a widow and one daughter (Miss Rita BortoiD, one brother (Mr Jack Borton, of Hampden) and three sisters (Mrs Nichols of Oamam, Mrs Poehin of Oamaru and Mis;, Borton of Oanumi), to whom general sympathy will be extended.
