ISSUING VALUELESS CHEQUE

WELLINGTON, April 8
An attempt to get a blank cheque form from a local business man, on April Ist, led to a man being interrogated by Detective Hall. He gave his name as Ross, but subsequently was identified by Detective Hall as Robert Hall, who on the previous day, by a valueless cheque, obtained goods and £4 15s in money from John Court Ltd., Auckland. In Court to-day, he was sentenced to six months’ imprisonment. He admitted to the police that he intended to cash a number of valueless cheques in Wellington on April Ist, and to leave by tbe Alarama, next day, for Sydney.
