THE RIVAL CLUB

REVIEW OF THE PAST SEASON. There was an enthusiastic attendance of members at the -annual meeting of the Rival Football Club last evening when the President (Mr R. Wliih-y), presided. The report, which was adopted, -stated that the Club, although -suffering numerous defeats in the senior competition, were successful in winning the knock-out competition. The Club was represented in the West Coast and Westland Dittman Shield representative teams. The -annual banquet at the dose of last season was a most successful function, although the attendance was affected by weather. The financial statement -showed a -small credit, the thanks being due to the vice-presidents. The number of subscriptions from players was disappointing, but this was balanced by the fact that members had a heavy outlay in travelling to Greytnouth. Thanks were due -to all who had assisted th o Club, in particular Messrs A. H. Lawn. E. W. Heenan, and R. Lynn.

The following officers were elected: — Patron, Mr J. J. Mclntosh ; President. M)r R. Whiley; vice-presidents, lastyear’s were re-elected with the addition of Messrs R. Drummond, R. -Boucher and 'E. Howat (Kanieri), R Leitch, W. Graham, and Drs Han and Wi 1-sou; delegates, Messrs Lawn and -Heenan; club captain, M r G. Adamson, -senr. ; selectors, Messrs Pfa/hlert, Houston and dub* captain ; committee, Messrs F. Carter, E. Heenan, A. Dawson, R, Lynn, A. fi. Lawn, L. Worn he and M. Houston ; -secretary and treasurer Mr L. Larcombe; social secretaries, Messrs Lawn and T- Gumming. Six new members were elected, and the subscription was fixed at 2s 6d, reduced from ss, -In view of the times, it was decided -that the Sub-Union be requested _to endeavour to run a senior competition in South ‘Westland. Failing thi-s, the Club would enter one junior team m the competitions.
