MORE KIDNAPPINGS THREATENED COUNTRY IN STATE OF TERROR. NEW YORK, April 6. Already electrified by the kidnapping of the Lindbergh baby, the United States stood aghast to-day as the growing “kidnap racket” threatened some of the most famous parents in the country. Mrs 'Harold Gatty, wife of the' wellknown Australian flier, is travelling with her children from California to Washington under heavy guard, fearing abduction. Jack Dempsey, before leaving New York, for Chicago, hired a detective guard, because he feared abduction for ransom. Ren Lyon and 'his wife, Rebe Daniels, the screen stars, are in practical retirement after kidnappers’ threats against them. The country is in a state ol terror, and is demanding drastic action by Congress against organised violence.
