ADDINGTON STOCK SALE. IBy Teieyruph—ter tress Association) CHRISTCHURCH. April 6. There ueie large entries to-day at the Addington live stock sale, and prices tenued lower in most lines.
Tnere was another over-supply of beef, mostly •of second grade. Tlie lies! quality realised recent values. Others showed a decided easing, i'.atra heavy bullocks sold to £l3 is ad, prime £9 Ids to £ll) is 6d, medium £6 os to £7 ss, light from £3 17s 6s. Best prime heifers sold to £8 7s 3d, prime £5 15s to £7, light from £3 15s. Best cows sold to £9 10s, prime xo os to 06 bs, medium £3 5s to £4 is 6d, inferior from 255.
Dairy and store cattle were hard to quit.
Har.ciiweight prime vealers were firm.
There was another large offering of store sheep comprising consignments from the West Coast, Kaikoura, Blenheim and the North Island and the Chatham Islands. The best class of ewes met a fair demand. Other grades were* met by very cautious bidding at a lower basis. There was a large number of store lambs, of very mixed quality. The bulk of the sales weie at from os to is per head. Few lots sold to 8s and jvur.
Mutton was forward in a big supply, mostly ewes, with only a few lots that were attractive. Values opened i late rates, remaining steady ’hroughoiit.
There were fewer fat lambs offered i his Week, and many unfinished lots, i decent, values were well maintained. Extra heavy lambs sold to 18s 1 Oil, orinie 17s to 18s. medium 13s to 16s •s, light fr. m 9s tkl. There war a smaller yarding of fat pigs. All "ratios showed a rise on recent rates.
