MRS FORTESCUE’S TRIAL.
LYNCHING AT HONOLULU. (United Press Association—By Electric Telegraph.—Copyright.) HONOLULU, April 4. The tentative acceptance of six jurors is the net result'of .the first 1 session of the tidal of Mrs Fortescue. of New York, in connection with tlu shooting of a man in Hawaii some months ago in consequence of an outrage committed upon a European woman, Mrs Fortescue appeared unconcerned. Lieut. Massir (who is alleged to have fired the fatal shot) was tense, Lord sometimes seemed amused, and Jones chewed gum. The prosecution and the defence clashed twice over the questioning of the inrors regarding the influence of an earlier rape trial, on their attitude in tin’s ease, the prosecution insisting on keeping the cases separate. Apparently, several days will he required to complete the jury, as there are forty-three peremptory challenges
