FRIENDLY TONE
OF IRISH REPLY TO BRITISH GOVERNMENT (British Official Wireless.) RUGBY, April 2. The 1 Irish Free State Cabinet were engaged for several hours, yesterday, considering the reply to the communication from the United Kingdom Government, regarding their representations on the oath of allegiance and land, annuities.
At the dose of a five hours’ sitting, which concluded just before midnight., the following statement was issued : “The dispatch from the British Government was considered and an outline of the proposed reply was decided upon. Instructions were given for the preparation of a draft to be presented at a further meeting of Cabinet, early next week. Press reports slate that the new draft is understood to be friendly in tone, and to leave the way open for amicable negotiation.
