' Sub-Inspector Cameron in prosecuting JJennet said that Paterson had been engaged by Mr Juriss, the Court bailiff, to take possession of a house occupied by Bcnnet. Mr Juriss drove Paterson to the house and they were admitted by Mi’s Bennet. It was explained to the wife that they were acting under the authority of the Court. Later Mrs Bennet left the house in darkness, Paterson remaining in the dark kitchen. Bcnet arrived home and Paterson immediately informed him that he was acting under instructions from the Court, and had a warrant in his possession, added the Sub-Inspector. Accused told the bailiff to get out. He throw off his coat and hat and rushed J Paterson, whom lie assaulted and i-nally threw him out of the back door and down the steps. Paterson was bleeding from the mouth and neck and lie had a lump on the crown of his head on which lie had landed. Pater* son’s throat had been clawed. Mr Juriss had stated that he was having some difficulty in enforcing warrants. “It as a most serious matter to interfere with anyone executing a warrant —a much more sorioous matter than that- of common assault,” said the Magistrate. Bennet was fined £3.
