LIGHTNING IN AUSTRALIA

MELBOURNE, April 4

Fourteen men working in a box mil. at the Australasian Jam Factory, ai South Yana, had a narrow escape from death, who* the mill was struck by lightning. Sheets of flame from' tht electric motors rose through the root, and the mill was destroyed by fire within an hour. Twenty thousand cases were also consumed by the flames. Heavy rain ha s fallen in South Gippsland, and has resulted in large area; being’ flooded. Two bridges were washed away 'on the Yarram-Giffard Road, and five miles of the roadway were covered with the rushing waters.
