WESTLAND PACING CLUB
AUTUMN MEETING. The Easter meeting of- the Westland Racing Club take s place on- Wednesday next- on the Hokitika racecourse. There is a good list of entries, over 70 horses being engaged for the day’s racing. The handicaps for the eight events will be declared on Alonday evening, and acceptances close the next day (Tuesday) at 2.30 o’clock with the Secretary. The racecourse was inspected by seveial members of the Club yesterday. All were impressed with the excellent condition of both tracks. The grounds are in goou order, and the appointments looked well. Since the Nma-s meeting, the new stand has been painted, and is now of more striking appearance. The caretaker (Mr 0. Fowler) has everything in first class order -for the meet,ng) which should be as popular as ever with the public. A fast train service will run from Greymouth on the illuming of the races.
