LATE MOTHER BANAHAN
FUNERAL AT MASTERTON. MASTERTON, March 20. The funeral of'the late Motiier M.my .Gertrude Banahan, founder of the Order of Brigindine Nuns in New Zealand, took place at Masterton on Saturday morning. The funeral, which was a lengthy one, left St. Patrick’s Church immediately alter the Requiem Mass, which was celebrated by Rev. Father Cashmun, of Pahiatua. In the funeral procession were St Patrick's School children, altar boys, clergy, and the nuns, also a large number of friends of the late Mother Superior. Sisters representing the Order of Sisters of Mercy in Wellington and Loner Hutt were also present. The members of the clergy presold "oi’e Monsignors Connelly (Kilbirnie and the Revs Fathers N. Moore and Harnett (Masterton). John Txellv (Wellington), Fitzgibbons (.Jobnsonville), Broughton (Feilding), Doherty (Eketahuna), Kavoney (Carterton), Lenihan (Carterton), Uhlenberg (Kilbirnie). and Bre nan (Foxton). The Rev Father Cashman also officiated at the graveside. The pallbearers were Messrs McSherry, Murphy, an c ] Morgan (Rahiatua), and Messrs J. C. Cooper, J. Savage and J. Bradbury (Masterton).
