DE RINK CHARGED COMMITTED TO SUPREME COURT. (By Telegraph—Pt. Press Associationj NEW PLYMOUTH, March 23. Christian De Kink who met Detective Meiklejohn and Constable Tockei with a gun when those officers went io arrest him at Tikorangi last week, uppo.ucd at the Police Court to-day., cnarged that, with intent to resist, lieattempted to discharge’ at the officers a double barrelled shotgun De Rink pleaded not guilty. He was committed to the Supreme Court for trial. Bail was granted in self £2OO, and two sureties P2OP each. Detective Meiklejolm told how ho and a constable visited De Rink s house with a warrant for his arrest on a false pretences charge. A fie' they waited some hours De Rink appeared armed with a shotgun. De Rink shouted to them not to come near, or he would shoot. He would not be tab en alive. The Detective advanced and De Rink bolted. He returned a quarter of an hour later, and again menaced the officers with the gun. The constable engaged De Rink in conver. section, while the Detective slowly advanced up to him, finally closing on him, During the struggle the gun di«ehurged, but no ono was injured.
