The King has approved that Mr Justice Wright be appointed Lord of Appeal in Ordinary in succession to Viscount Dunedin, who will retire from office on April o.
PRINCESS’ PRESENT DESTROYED. LONDON, March 21. The miniature thatched cottage, which the Welsh people presented to Princess Elizabeth on her sixth birthday, was burnt en route from Cardiff to the London Ideal Homes Exhibition, Olympia. Welsh craftsmen, who built the cottage, have hurried to Olympia to reconstruct it. The Duke of York, in a telegram to the Lord Mayor of Cardiff, expressed deep regret at tin* destruction of Princess Eliza Beth’s model house, which was a wonderful -specimen of Welsh craftsmanship. The -furniture, which is in keeping with the model house, was in a separate vehicle, and i s safe. TRANSPORT COSTS IN BRITAIN. RUGBY, March 21. A committee comprised of four representatives of the railway companies and four representatives of firms engaged in goods transport by road, has been set up with comprehensive terms of reference to investigate facts relating to the total cost s of the ‘highways system, including the regulation of -trade, and the incidence of those
costs, and the contribution-- of the different classes of users of medianion ! l v propelled vehicles. They report at the 4-nd. of July.
