The Prime Minister announced his intention to get the measure before the Legislative Council in time to have it passed, if possible, prior to the Eai&ter adjournment, and if this can be done by Wednesday night the House will take the adjournment immediately, otherwise' it will wait until Thursday; No ohter business will beintroduced, this week., > AGAINST WAGE REDUCTION. Petitions from Palmerston North, Whangarei, Westport and Raglan were presented in the House to-night urging the Government to make no further reductions in wages. The signatories were stated to include numerous- business men. The' petitions state, “With due recognition of the unprecedented financial position of the Dominion we submit that the promotion and preservation of its prosperity and prevention of further individual financial embarrassment amd hardship and extension Xof unemployment render it essential that no further reductions in salaries or wages be made.” ! The petitions.,were referred to' the Government.
