WHOLE FAMILY KIDNAPPED
AMERICAN BANK ROBBERY
Five American robbers lately kidnapped Ithe entire family of Mr >M. C. j.Mntt, an officer of the Alnndelieii branch of the Illinois State Bank, an held them prisoners- for six hours before rifliim the bank vault ami taking the '3OOO dollars (£6OO at par) it contained. The gang is believed to be the same as that which kidnapped a family last April. ' The bandits paid a call at the Alnlt's home at 2 a.m., climbing through the window Threatening Hh> family with guns, they herded Mr Aloft, his wife, her sister, and four children, into a motor-car, and drove to the bank through the deserted streets.
After repeated threats, Air .Mold finally convinced the bandifs that- he did not know the combination of the lock on the vault door, declaring that a time-lock was set for 8.15 a.m. 'I lie robbers, therefore, waited for the arrived of the cashier, whom they forced to open the doors, later imprisoning him with the Mott family in the basement.
T’he bandits escaped in the car, taking Mr (Molts’ son as hostage, though thev released him ten miles away.
