Mabin and G. Perry. Mr Perry was chosen foreman. Funeral Notice—The friends of the late Henry Wardrobe are respectfully invited to follow his remains to the cemetery. The funeral to move from Mr C. Upjohn’s residence, Tancred Street, this afternoon at 2 o’clock. Hockey—The annual meeting of the Hokitika Hockey Club was held in the Aquatic Cycle Rooms last evening The following officers were elected: President, M. A. W. Bock, vice-presi-dents, Messrs Mclntosh, Sellers, G-M----en, Wake and Michel; club captain, Mr Lyons; vice-captain, Mr J. C. Malfroy; secretary, Mr R. P.- Dykes; omnnttee, Messrs Kerr, Wilson, Fcliey and Sherman. It was decided Mr Baucke vait on the warden relative to the granting of claims on Chows Terrace, [t was further resolved that the Mines Department be respectfully requested to‘ grant no tourist reseives in Fisherman’s Creek. Education Institute —The annual meeting of the Westland Education Institute was held at the District High School on Saturday morning, there being present: Messrs Hender-- 1 son (chairman), Wake, Matier, tvay, Keys-Wells, Winchester and Harrison, Misses Ward, Potts, Stark, Moore. McKinnon and Turner. Mr Wake ’ was appointed president and Misses Potts and Ward vice-presidents, Messrs H. G. Wake, J. J. Henderson,, W. ,D. Mac Kay were appointed a deputation to wait on the member for Westland to ask him to bring before the House the unfair treatment which the Education Boards of large districts show to teachers of small outiving districts. ‘ Obituary—The death is announced if. St Patrick’s Day Concert— A large, enthusiastic audience greeted the peformers at the Princess Theatre .ast evening when'a concert was held in aid of the new hall for the Catholic Debating Society.
