FROM PUBLIC SERVICE. •SEVERAL LEADING OFFICIALS

WELLINGTON, March 17,

Several officers well known in Wellington are retiring from the Publk Service on superannuation at the end of the present month. One is Mr G. .T. Kelleher, Under-Secretary of Internal Affairs. He first joined the service as a telegraph messenger in 18.11. M’ Kelleher was promoted to be Chief Clerk of the Department of Internal Affairs on the 10th of February, 1913. •When the Government, in September. 1918, decided to institute totalisator inspection, iMr Kelleher was appointed Chief Inspector, in which position hr did some fine work in bringing into vogue the new system. On 25,th July, 1928, he succeeded Mr G. P.. .vowton ai (Assistant Under-Secretary 'of Internal Affairs. ■

After 44 years’ service Mr Henr\ Rose, Deputy Commissioner and Secretary of the Government Life Insurance Department, ha-s decided to .relinqnisl his position. He .Joined the service a.a cadcit in 1888, and steadily advance' in the Department, becoming Cltie. Clerk in 1920, and accountant in 1923 He was promoted to be Secretary anc Deputy Commissioner in 1926. Mr Charles Edward Nalder, Regis-trar-General of Lands, Secretary foi Land and Deeds, Commissioner of Stamp Duties, and Registrar of Incorporated Societies, is also retiring. Hi 'joined ,the service in 1886. He was a District ‘Land Wegijtrar for sonic years prior to .1918. In 1925 tie "as promoted to the position which he a 4 prrr.cnt holds, Mr George -S.
