A most unusual occurrence is rep uteJ from Woodlands Soldier Sett ement, Opotiki, a cow on the farm of Air S. Maxwell, giving birth to triplets, two heifers and a bull. All ap -t-ao'd :■ H normal when born,, 'but subsequently they all died.
For the first (time since 1926, Marshland growers are exporting onions to Australia. In the past, Melbourne has supplied Australian demands and shipments Have been sent ovei to Now Zealand markets, but this year dry weather affected yield' with the result that Christchurch growers in particular have benefited. A steamer will leave Lyttelton for Ale]bourne with over one hundred ton s of Marshland onions ; other shipments will be made from time to time. Onions were on the market in Melbourne at £l6 a ton recently, but now the price is a little over. Yields at Marshland this year have been smaller than in some years in. the past, owing to dry weather. An average yield m twelve tons to the acre, but this year's yield falls short of that.
