OPIUM FINE
FOR RECEIVING POSTAL PARCEL. 'By Teleyraph—Per Press Association) WELLINGTON, March 15. Discovering that a parcel addressed to a Chinese contained opium, Post Office officials communicated with the police, and when a Chinese claimed, anil was given possession of, the parcel, ho walked right into the arms of i detective who was waiting outside for him. The parcel Was addressed to R. bum, c/ o Peter Chan. It was posted at Auckland. The Chinese who collected the parcel, however, was Kwok dick King, aged 26 years. He failed to prove that he was in innocent possession. A fine of £SO was imposed on him. Security for appeal was fixed at ,fihe 'amount jof the fine, plus ten guineas.
