He entertained the King and Queen for an hour at Buckingham Palace, singing several songs, including, at the Queen’s request, her favourite hymn, “Jesu, Lover of My 'Soul,” and “Laud of My Fathers.” Davies .said that the King and Queen were delightful. “They chatted to mo between songs,” he said. 'The King said he thought that I would develop into a tenor, lie hoped I would be a groat singer. He presented me with a silver pencil engraved with the Royal arms and monogram.”
