The last theft occurred a month ago. As on that occasion, the thieves broke the panel of the front door and stole quantities of tobacco and cigarettes, leaving behind little trace of their visit.
Another theft on Friday evening was at a house in Hereford Street, where burglars broke a window and, entering the premises, ransacked. the place. Drawers and cupboards were turned out and the thieves left with jewellery and clothing to the value of £2O.
SHOP BROKEN INTO. TE KUITI, Match 14> Early on Sunday morning Mr McLennan’s chemist shop, and the Diamond Stores (grocery) were broken into, £5 being stolen from McLennan’s. The burglar had a meal of sardines and biscuits at the Diamond Stores, where cigarettes and small goods were stolen. Attempts to break in at four other places failed.
