CARNIVAL AT GREYMOUTH. At Greymouth last night the John Burns Challenge Cup was won by Westport with .19 points, Greymouth 15 and Cobden 9. A strong team of Westport lady swimmers competed and “stooped the nool” in the ladies’ events, while Miss Robertson, one of the team, finished second to E. McConville in the open S 3 1-3 yard Handicap. E McConville, holder of the New Zealand 50 yards official record (free style) of 23 3-osecs, who recorded 25 ■4-5 secs at a garni vaj held at Westport- on March 4th, made an attempt to break this latter record, but failed, his time being 26 s ees.
