VISIT BY ROYALTY
LITTLE HOPE HELD OUT. WELLINGTON. March 10. The hope that a member of the Royal Family might be able to visit New Zealand next year on the occasion of the Congress of Chambers of Commerce of the British Empire was expressed by Mr S. Jacobs, president of- the lUinited Commercial Travellers’ and Warehousemen’s Association, at the opening of the .annual conference today. Replying, the Governor-General satthat there was no lack of Willingness on the part of the King and members of the Royal Family to comply w.tli the invitation. It was only fair to say. however, that economic conditions in the Old o Con try and in New Lealand rendered the realisation o'f the hope extremely difficult. • Lord Bledisloe said that hi s efforts would be unremitting, hut unless there avas a very substantial improvement in the financial position and outlook of hoth countries, he very much feared that they would not have the opportunity of welcoming a member of the 'Royal House.
