The “Observer” say, 3 that if Be Valera breaches the solemn pact by abolishing the oath of allegiance, Britain will in nowise he alarmed, either by its abolition or its propagandist repercussion in India and South Africa, but she will not pretend to ignore it.- She will undoubtedly intimate that, in the economic organisation of the Empire just beginning, allegiance and preference go together. If Ireland can dispense with honour, Eng find can better dispense with Irish produce. If the issue is forced upon her, England can do so without compunction.
