Joseph Leddy was sentenced to one year’s imprisonment for the murder of Patrick Reynolds, whose widow is now a, member of the Dail Eireann, and to one year for the manslaughter' of Patrick McGechan, the sentences to be concurrent. The defence alleged that red terror prevailed in Leitrim at the time of the shooting. The jurjL recommended Leddy to mercy on the manslaughter charge, on account of provocation. The Judge signified his entire agreement therewith, and promised to forward the jury’s recommendation to the Minister of Justice, in ■ order that Leddy might not lose his pension as. an ex-member of the Irish Constabulary..
