LEFT HER TO PAY. CASUAL CAVALIER VANISHES. LONDON, February 26. An unusual case came before the Bow Street magistrate when a pretty, well-dressed girl made an application for a summons against the Savoy Hotel. She explained that she met a man at the Piccadilly Hotel who persuaded her to dine with him at the Savoy, but he disappeared after dinner, leaving her to pay the bill of £3 13s 6d. The hotel refused to allow her to leave until she gave them her watch as security. She now wanted a summons against the hotel for detaining the watch. The hotel refused to prosecute the man, but were willing to return the watch if she paid for her share of the dinner. The magistrate granted the summons, but expressed doubt, whether she would be successful.
